Child Abuse

Children are trusting and loyal to a fault. Statistics show children are much more likely to be the victims of abuse than anybody else, and also shows their abusers are much more likely to be somebody the child knows and trusts than a total stranger.

Child Abuse

It is important that when it comes to child abuse, people’s minds are kept open to any possibility. Relatives are often the first people to have the finger pointed at them or have visits from social services should a child show signs of abuse, and while this is obviously extremely distressing and humiliating for parents or relatives who are innocent, it is also very important to keep in mind the importance of eliminating people from being suspects.

Social Services are an agency which are almost loathed and which are seen as priers and snoops, but they fulfil a need in society. You have to understand they are there for the benefit of the child, nobody else, and are often saviour’s and hero’s and the last hope a child has of being rescued from what very often turn out to be the most diabolic of circumstances. If you have nothing to hide, you have nothing to fear.

Child abuse is a terrible cruelty which takes many forms. From the vilest and most deprived forms of sexual abuse to persistent violence, to occasional violent outburst, to starving a child, keeping them locked in their rooms, to mental abuse and neglect, all cause untold suffering to the child in which is likely to haunt them for the rest of their lives. It is very important that people are extremely vigilant in seeing the signs of child abuse and upon suspecting child abuse report it as soon as they can. As we have seen in the media recently, child abuse which goes ignored or undetected can result in death or severe mental and physical injury, and nobody wants that on their conscience. Stay alert.
